Birmingham Aims High to Create Jobs

20/11/2009

A Midland based company VTP Global will be submitting a planning application to build a vertical theme park in Birmingham.

The VerTiPlex project, estimated at £95m comprises:

  • 650ft (200m) slowly revolving glass leisure and observation tower with 360 degree views of the city
  • Gold base housing restaurants, cafĂ© bars and hotel
  • An array of rides including Flight Trainer, Giant Drop and SeeSaw
  • Extreme activities such as Walk of Fear, Sky Jump, Bungee Jump and a 10m climb to the summit.

Situated next to the Millennium Point site the theme park was originally hoped to be open in 2010 close to the eagerly awaited City Park Gate development but both have been on hold due to the recession.

An attraction such as this can only be good news for locals and visitors to the city and would coincide nicely with the 2012 Olympics boosting both tourism and the economy with 650 full-time jobs expected to be created.
