Training centre planned for Kings Cross

07/03/2008

Planning permission has been granted for a £2 million Construction Training Centre at Kings Cross, Property Week has reported.

Developer, Argent is to build a 15,600 sq ft facility, which will help local people learn construction skills to be used in the rest of its scheme.

Carillion, HBG, Kier, and Nuttalls, have all signed up to a plan, which will see students join them for work experience.

The centre will teach national vocational qualification (NVQ) courses in construction funded by the Learning and Skills Council.

Outline permission for the scheme was granted in December 2006 for 2,000 new homes, 20 new streets and ten major public spaces.

Ken Livingston, Mayor of London, was impressed with the proposals, saying: "This is one of the largest sites still to be developed in central London and I hope the development can now get going after so many years of planning."
