30/09/2008
Smaller firms are reportedly increasing their demand for construction workers with specialisms despite the ongoing problems with the economy and building sectors.
Speaking to website Recruiter, Damien Murphy, a technical consultant at McCall said: "Clients tell me they are always on the look out for good strong billers.
"We have noticed more companies are looking to recruiter in the technical and construction market McCall is always receiving enquiries from new and exisiting clients looking for quality recruiters.
"There are some very good candidates in the marketplace at the moment from all sectors and at all levels."
The construction industry has been one of the hardest hit due to the credit crunch.
With banks unwilling to give mortgages to borrowers, there are less people buying houses and therefore less need for construction.
Despite that, skilled labourers are in demand, especially as the government have introduced a new points based system for immigrants looking for skilled jobs in the UK.
