Management now a thankless task

10/10/2008

Management has become a thankless task, were bosses forget to thank their employees, a survey has suggested.

A poll by business consultancy Matiz found workers thought their bosses showed less gratitude than ten years ago.

Managing director Nick bender encouraged bosses to tell workers how well they had performed.

"Taking the time to say a personal thank you for a job well done costs nothing, yet can make a big contribution to the productivity and success of a business," he said.

Matiz conducted the research in support of its forthcoming National Thank You Week.

The initiative and its recognition programmes hope to increase morale and retention, and support a high performance culture.

"Recognition can range from a simple thank you to an all expenses paid week in Mauritius," the company has claimed.

Workers in construction jobs are likely to receive different rewards than those in financial sectors, where bonuses are often given as thanks.
